Privacy Policy
Last updated October 9, 2026
Great Barcode Scanner is made by Great Work LLC ("we"). This policy explains what the Great Barcode Scanner iPhone app does with your information.
Your data stays on your iPhone
The codes you scan or make, and their history, are stored only on your iPhone, inside Barcodes. Codes are read on the device with Apple's camera and Vision frameworks; the camera picture is never saved or uploaded. It is never sent to us, never used for advertising, and never sold. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored.
When something leaves your iPhone
Only when you tap it. Open Link loads that website in Safari inside the app. Search the Web sends the product number to a web search. Share, Copy, Add to Contacts and Add to Calendar hand the code's contents to where you choose. Barcodes never looks codes up on a server of its own; there isn't one.
Photos
Scan from Photo uses Apple's photo picker, which runs outside the app: Barcodes receives only the one picture you pick and keeps nothing but the code it reads. Saving a code image to Photos asks for permission to add photos only, the first time you choose Save Image.
Permissions
- Camera: Used only while the Scan tab is open, to read codes. Asked when you tap Allow Camera. You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
- Contacts: Only on iPhones before iOS 18, and only when you tap Add to Contacts on a scanned contact card. Newer iOS versions need no Contacts access for this. You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Contacts.
- Calendars: Only on iPhones before iOS 17, and only when you tap Add to Calendar on a scanned event. Newer iOS versions need no Calendar access for this. You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Calendars.
- Photos (add only): Only when you choose Save Image for a code. You can change this anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.
No account
Great Barcode Scanner has no sign-up or login. We don't collect your name, email address or contacts.
Advertising
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. If you allow tracking when iOS asks (App Tracking Transparency), Google may use your device's advertising identifier to show more relevant ads; if you don't, ads are not personalized. Google may collect device information such as your IP address and device model to serve and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice before any ad is requested, and you can change it later from Privacy Choices in the More tab. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Purchases
Barcodes Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details.
Children
Great Barcode Scanner is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
